Bronson wins the Sydney Film Prize

Nicolas Winding Refn's "Bronson" received the Sydney Film Festival's main prize at the closing ceremony on Sunday, 14 June.

Refn's highly idiosyncratic portrait of Britain's longest-serving prisoner won the jury's attention for "best demonstrating the competition’s criteria of emotional power and resonance, audacity, cutting-edge, courage and for going beyond the usual treatment of its subject matter."

"Bronson" is the Danish director's sixth feature film and is scripted by Refn and Brock Norman Brock, and produced by Rupert Preston and Danny Hansford. UK release 13 March, Danish release 24 July.

Refn is currently in post-production with "Valhalla Rising", featuring Mads Mikkelsen and produced by Nimbus Film (release 2009).
