Charlotte Gainsbourg wins Best Actress

Cannes' perhaps most controversially discussed film, Lars von Trier's "Antichrist", was honoured with an award for Best Actress – in the shape of Charlotte Gainsbourg who plays the demanding lead as the young woman struck by a mad sorrow after losing her child."Antichrist" received overall favorable reviews at its Danish release on Wednesday, 20 May. TrustNordisk, responsible for international sales, reports that the film is sold to the US (IFC) and Great Britain (Artificial Eye). An edited version, where some of the film's more explicit images are cut out, will be released in a number of countries in order to slip through tight national film censors.
