Children & Film Panorama in Tanzania (2008-2017)

Presentation of the Children & Film Panorama at ZIFF, directed and produced by Anne Svejgård Lund with support from the Danish Film Institute, 2010.
Children & Film Panorama is a section of the Zanzibar International Film Festival, created to strengthen the focus on films for young audiences in East Africa.

Children & Film Panorama at the Zanzibar International Film Festival (ZIFF) launched its inaugural edition in 2008 as the result of a collaboration between the Danish Film Institute and ZIFF. The initiative embraces a film section and a professional forum.

One long term vision is to strengthen film education and cinema culture for children and youth as well as to develop an audience for the future. Another aim is to enhance the capacities for producing and distributing quality films to children and young people in the region.

Children & Film Panorama consists of film screenings for and discussions with children and young people as well as master classes for the professional film industry at ZIFF. Activities also encompass year-round festival ventures for young audiences in towns and villages on the Unguja and Pemba islands and Tanzania mainland. A future vision is to establish a film lab focusing on talent development, training and local content.

From 2012, ZIFF assumed primary responsibility for Children & Film Panorama, with the Danish Film Institute serving as advisor and consultant.
