Film of the Month: Mother
"Mother" was a huge audience hit at the New York Film Festival and at our own CPH:PIX. The almost Hitchcockian plot carries a middle-aged mother's desperate struggle to clear her mentally handicapped son of guilt from the murder of a girl.

CONCERT WARM-UP: YOUSSOU NDOUR - I BRING WHAT I LOVE
Youssou Ndour is the first African ever to go platin. His sensual, hip-grinding, rhythmical tributes to Islam have stirred controversy in his home country, but Ndour remains calm in his devotion to music and God. If you haven't heard Ndour's hypnotic voice, this musical documentary is a great place to begin the journey. Or you can use the screening the 2nd as a warm-up to his concert in Vega on the 4th.

PSYCH-OUT – MOVIES FROM THE UNDERGROUND: ABEL FERRARA DOUBLE
The Filmhouse presents two hardcore New York underground films from the hand of Abel Ferrara. "The Driller Killer" is the power drill answer to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre", and "Ms. 45" is a ferocious feminist revenge drama about a mute girl's vengeance on a rapist.
In the intermission you can buy cold beers and listen to a record.

GERMAN FILM NIGHT: BASED DOWN SOUTH
This moving documentary is a surprising contribution to the European immigration debate. The film chronicles the lives of a group of people who consider Germany their home, but for different reasons have taken residence in Istanbul. While politicians talk about immigrants who refuse to integrate into European society Bülent, Fatos and Murat have created a surrogate Germany in the heart of Turkey. The director will give a talk about her film afterwards.

DOCUMENTARY AND DEBATE: BLOOD CALLS YOU
This very personal film is part of the director's attempt to understand and escape her own violent marriage. She reflects on how her own dysfunctional relationship eerily mirrors her own parents' marriage. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director.
Linda Thorgren, 2010 – SUN 27 14:15
