Grand Prix to "The Moving Earth"

Lars Becker-Larsen's documentary "The Moving Earth" won the Grand Prix at the 46th International Festival TECHFILM in Prague on Thursday, 19 March – a festival that celebrates technology, film and multimedia. "The Moving Earth", travelling back 500 years through the history of astronomy, is a wonderful journey in time, here in the International Year of Astronomy 2009, the jury states. The film admirably illustrates "the collaboration of scientists of different nationalities and the fight of ideas over superstition".Next stop on the festival circuit is the Vedere la Scienza Festival in Milan (30 March – 5 April), where "The Moving Earth" is selected for competition in the section History of Science/International Year of Astronomy.The film is produced by Gitte Randløv for Danish Doc Production and has been sold to Arte in Germany and France, to Sweden, Australia and the U.S.News brief only – not released as newsletterFor further information:TECHFILM (16-19 March)
