Katja Adomeit on the Move

CANNES 2015. Katja Adomeit will be off to the Cannes Festival as one of twenty ermerging European producers ready to network under the "Producers on the Move" initiative.

Each year during Cannes, the networking platform Producers on the Move shines a spotlight on young European producers.

Among the twenty participants selected for this year's event is Danish producer Katja Adomeit who, along with her peers, will be offered one-to-one working sessions and various opportunities to strengthen her international relations. The four-day event takes places 15-18 May.

Director and producer Katja Adomeit, of German origin, graduated as a producer in 2012 from the alternative Danish film school Super16. From 2006 Katja Adomeit worked at the production company Zentropa – until 2012, when she set up her own production company Adomeit Film.

Adomeit was co-producer on last year's Cannes participant, Ruben Östlund's "Force Majeure," winner of the Jury Prize in the Un Certain Regard sidebar. Her first film as producer was Daniel Joseph Borgman's "The Weight of Elephants," which enjoyed its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in 2013. Adomeit also works in documentary, having produced Anna Eborn's "Pine Ridge" (2013), about a group of young Native Americans in South Dakota, selected for Venice Film Festival and winner of Best Nordic Documenary in Göteborg, and "Not at Home" (2013), a film with strong fictional elements about a group of Afghan refugees. She directed the film herself in collaboration with Afghan director Shahrbanoo Sadat.

New projects include, as producer, "Wolf and Sheep," a co-production between Denmark, Afghanistan, Norway and France that was developed with Cannes Cinéfondation and is to be directed by Shahrbanoo Sadat. As co-producer, Adomeit is currently working on Frida Kempff's "Winter Buoy," a documentary co-produced between Sweden, Denmark and France.
