Locarno selects new Danish feature films

The 57th Locarno
International Film Festival (4-14 August 2004) has selected Nikolaj
Arcel's feature film debut "King's Game" and Hella Joof's second feature
"Oh Happy Day" for the Piazza Grande section, a programme reserved for
films that are spectacular, entertaining and innovative. The films will be
shown on a giant screen in an outdoor facility with an audience capacity
of 7,000.
"King's Game", to be
released in Danish cinemas 1 October 2004, is produced by Meta Louise
Foldager for Nimbus Film, Nikolaj Arcel co-wrote the script with Rasmus
Heisterberg. Anders W. Berthelsen ("Italian for Beginners") takes the
lead.
"Oh Happy Day", to be
released in Danish cinemas 5 November 2004, is produced by Thomas
Gammeltoft and Lene Bausager for Fine & Mellow and Ugly Duckling
Films, the script is written by Hella Joof, Jannik Johansen and leading
player Lotte Andersen. Hella Joof's feature film debut "Shake it all
About" (2002), which was awarded in Moscow, was favoured by the
Danish critics and seen by a tenth of the population in
Denmark.
Locarno International
Film Festival belongs to the same category of festivals as those in
Cannes, Berlin, Venice and San Sebastian (as established by FIAPF,
International Federation of Film Producers Associations).
