After Jeppe Rønde's feature fiction debut "Bridgend" was announced in the Tiger Competition Tuesday, Rotterdam Film Festival has selected another two Danish films for this year's line-up, Michael Noer's "Key House Mirror" and Laurits Flensted-Jensen's short film "Snow." The festival will also be including Niels Arden Oplev's "Speed Walking" in its new VOD brand, IFFR Live.
Key House Mirror
Michael Noer's third feature, "Key House Mirror," has been selected for the Spectrum section, a programme for established directors. The film is also competing for a Big Screen Award where the prize includes theatrical distribution in the Netherlands.
Lily and Max have been married for more than 50 years. Now they live together in a nursing home where Max has been reliant on professional care since his stroke. Lily has been putting her own needs aside and is desperately longing for excitement and intimacy in her life. When a man known as "the Pilot" moves in next door, Lily is immediately charmed by him and his passion for life. But neither her family nor the other residents at the nursing home are fond of her new acquaintance. Misunderstood by her family and trapped in her life with Max, Lily decides to fight to escape the bars of her invisible prison and claim her freedom.
"Key House Mirror" stars Ghita Nørby og Sven Wollter and is produced by Tomas Radoor and René Ezra for Nordisk Film. TrustNordisk handles international sales.
"Key House Mirror" has just been selected for competition at Göteborg Film Festival, where it will be opening the festival on 23 January.
Snow
Laurits Flensted-Jensen's short "Snow," his graduation film from The National Film School of Denmark, has been selected for the programme As Long as it Takes: Shorts.
It is winter in Copenhagen, and the snow has left the streets deserted. Somewhere in the outskirts of the city, Alaa and Ibrahim are hanging out and looking at the trains passing by.
"Snow" is produced by Julie Friis Walenciak.
Speed Walking Screening on IFFR Live
Niels Arden Oplev's coming-of-age drama "Speed Walking" will be presented in the IFFR Live section. The five films in this new programme will screen simultaneously in theatres all over Europe and on selected European VOD platforms.
