'Forever' selected for San Sebastián Competition

FESTIVAL. Frelle Petersen's critically praised 'Forever', a family drama about loss and grief, will be celebrating its international premiere in Competition at the 70th San Sebastián Film Festival, running from 16 September.

The San Sebastián Film Festival will be including Frelle Petersen and Zentropa's drama 'Forever' in its upcoming edition (16-24 September). The feature will be runnning in Competition, celebratíng its international premiere at the festival. 

Frelle Petersen made his breakthrough with 'Uncle' (2019), which took home the Tokyo Grand Prix Award and received the Danish critics' Bodil Award for Best Screenplay.

His new film, 'Forever', takes us to a close-knit family struck by grief. When Line loses her brother, and Egon and Maren their son, the family is thrown into a deep crisis. Now the three of them need to find their way back to life and to reconstitute their family.

Jette Søndergaard, who also took the lead in Frelle Petersen's previous film, 'Uncle', plays the daughter, while Lasse Lorenzen is cast as the son and Mette Munk Plum and Ole Sørensen as the parents.

'Forever' is written and directed by Frelle Petersen and produced by Jonas Bagger for Zentropa with support from the Danish Film Institute, the West Danish Film Fund and Nordisk Film & TV Fond in cooperation with YouSee, TV 2 Denmark, Mer Film Distribution and TV 2 Norge. International sales are handled by TrustNordisk.

Already announced for San Sebastián is Danish director Katrine Brocks' feature debut 'The Great Silence', which will be premiering in the New Directors competition.

At last year's festival, Tea Lindeburg's feature debut 'As in Heaven' won two Silver Shell awards – for Best Director to Lindeburg and for Best Leading Performance (shared with Jessica Chastain) to Flora Ofelia Hofmann Lindahl.
