Oscar winning producer Kasper Dissing on the move

INTERNATIONAL. Hot off his Oscar win, 'Another Round' producer Kasper Dissing is selected as one of 20 promising Europeans for the networking event Producers on the Move. Usually part of the Cannes Festival, the event runs this year from 17-21 May in a virtual edition.

Kasper Dissing made his debut as a feature film producer with Thomas Vinterberg's 'Another Round', winner of the Oscar for Best International Feature among many other international accolades. Dissing co-produced Zentropa's drama with Sisse Graum Jørgensen.

Now, the 33-year-old producer will participate in the prestigious industry event Producers on the Move, which takes place virtually 17-21 May.

The programme aims to strengthen the international network of the producers and inspire future co-productions. Thus, Dissing will have ample opportunity to present his upcoming projects and exchange ideas as one of the 20 European producers handpicked for the event.

"Many of the producers I admire have participated in previous editions of the programme, so it is an immense honour to be a part of the lineup," says Kasper Dissing.

"On a professional level, it is of huge importance to me to have an internationally oriented profile. The projects I work on are developed as co-productions and they need an international platform – from financing to launch. Events such as Producers on the Move offer just that, thus playing an important role in forging collaborations across borders."

From producer assistant to Oscar winner

Kasper Dissing graduated as a producer from the alternative Danish film school Super16 in 2016, while also working his way up at Zentropa. He started out as producer assistant on films such as Thomas Vinterberg's Oscar-nominated 'The Hunt' and Susanne Bier's 'Love Is All You Need'. Dissing later served as associate producer on Vinterberg's Berlin winner 'The Commune'.

He got his feature-length debut with 'Another Round', which he produced in collaboration with Sisse Graum Jørgensen. The film won awards at the film festivals in San Sebastián and London while also taking home top prizes at the European Film Awards, BAFTA and Oscars, among others.

Before that, Dissing produced 'Shorta' director Frederik Louis Hviid's Cannes-winning short 'Halfman', and Christoffer Boe's exhibition 'The Journey'.

Producers on the Move runs from 17-21 May.

About Producers on the Move

Producers on the Move, a networking platform organised by European Film Promotion (EFP), presents twenty handpicked European producers, usually during the Cannes Festival, which in 2021 has changed dates due to corona.

The initiative aims at connecting the producers with potential co-production partners and strengthening their industry networks. They take part in project pitching, meetings, case studies and social events and benefit from an extensive press campaign.

Main criteria for qualifying are international experience in co-producing and theatrical releases outside of the producer's home country.

Danish film has been present at Producers on the Move since 2000. The most recent producers include Signe Leick Jensen, Mikael Rieks, Eva Jakobsen, Katja Adomeit, Mikkel Jersin, Ditte Milsted, Nina Bisgaard and, in 2020, 'Flee' producer Monica Hellström.

Producers on the Move is supported by EU's media programme Creative Europe, which also hosts Shooting Stars every year at the Berlinale.
