Odense International Film Festival Awards 2005

At the closing ceremony of the Odense International Film Festival
(11-16 August 2005), the following awards were presented:
Awards presented by the National Jury(Danish Short &
Documentary films)
National Grand Prix: "Den tyske hemmelighed"/"The German Secret", a
documentary film directed by Lars Johansson, and described by the Jury as
"a film based on profound research, and utilizing a fascinating
dramaturgy, and equilibristic editing. It stands as an example of how
documentary film can be just as exciting as a fiction film". The film is
about the director's wife, Kirsten Blohm, who was born in an American
prisoncamp in Germany in 1946, and who sets out on a journey in her
mother's footsteps to unravel the mystery of her origin.
Special Award: "Angie", a documentary by Tine Katinka Jensen. This film
- Jensen's graduation film from the National Film School of Denmark - is
about 23-year-old Angie who is preparing her rap text for the 'Rapper of
the year' contest.
Special Award: "Pas på nerverne", a documentary by René Bo Hansen about
an unorthodox social worker among second generation immigrants in one of
the toughest neighbourhoods in Copenhagen.
Special Award: "Min fars sind"/"The Mind of My Father", a
documentary portrait by Vibe Mogensen. A film about love, hope and the
ability to overcome adversity, even in the face of the greatest of
obstacles.
Special Mention: "I Danmark er jeg født"; a documentary by Peter
Klitgaard, about the diversity of the Danish language and dialects.

Grand Prix: "A Good Day", by Per Hanefjord, SwedenSpecial Award:
"Panorama", by Marinca Villanova, FranceSpecial Award: "Eye Level" by
George Ovashvili, GeorgiaSpecial Award: "Autobiografical Scene Number
6882" by Ruben Östlund, Sweden
Awards presented by the Youth Jury
Best International Children's Film: "Never an Absolution" by Cameron B.
Alyasin, Iran/Sweden.Best National Children's Film: "Kan man dø I
himlen?"/"Can You Die in Heaven" by Erlend E. Mo, Denmark
Press Jury
Hans Christian Andersen Award: "The Hidden Face" by Elbert van
Strien, HollandSpecial Mention: "The Swenkas", by Jeppe Rønde,
Denmark
Video Clip Cup
A two-day contest for young people:1st Prize: "Ignorans" by
Christian Prasno and Nis Stockmann2nd Prize: "Prisen for et liv -
Morfar" by Johan Holt Støving3rd Prize: "Søvnløs" by Laura
Kiralfy.
