Birgitte Stærmose, director of awardwinning short fictions, received Friday a Special Mention for her first documentary, "Out of Love", in the Generation 14plus competition.
Set in richly atmospheric locations in Pristina, "Out of Love" takes a view on children's lives, hopes and fears in postwar Kosovo.
"I feel proud and honoured. I hope that my film will give food for thought and that it might cause people to act. Also, I hope that this honour will help highlight the situation in Kosovo and, in general, children's living conditions in postwar environments," says the director about the acknowledment.
Earlier this month, "Out of Love" won the Prix EFA at Rotterdam International Film Festival, thus in the run for a European Film Award in Tallinn next December.
The film is produced by Jesper Morthorst for Alphaville Pictures Copenhagen with support from the talent programme New Danish Screen.
