
Norwegian-Danish director Joachim Trier’s 'Sentimental Value' has been selected for Cannes' prestigious main competition. The film features Renate Reinsve, Stellan Skarsgård, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Elle Fanning.
Several Danish talents have key roles in the film’s production, including cinematographer Kasper Tuxen, editor Olivier Bugge Coutté, VFX supervisor Esben Syberg, and co-producer Sisse Graum for Zentropa.
The film follows acclaimed stage actress Nora and her younger sister Agnes as their eccentric and charismatic father, Gustav, suddenly steps back into their lives after a long absence. Once a renowned film director, Gustav looks to make his comeback and make amends with Nora by offering her the lead role in his next film. But Nora wants nothing to do with her father or his film. The film is an intimate and poignant exploration of family, memories, and the reconcilatory power of art.

Swedish-Danish Co-Production
Tarik Saleh's 'Eagles of the Republic' is also selected for Cannes' main competition.
Egypt's most adored actor, George Fahmy is pressured to star in a film commissioned by the highest authorities. He reluctantly accepts the role and finds himself thrown into the inner circle of power. Like a moth drawn to the flame he begins an affair with the mysterious wife of the general overseeing the film.
The film is co-produced by Monica Hellström from Ström Pictures.

'The Great Arch’
The French-Danish production 'The Great Arch,’ starring Claes Bang and Sidse Babett Knudsen, has been selected for the Un Certain Regard section.
1983. The biggest architectural competition in history, both anonymous and open, is launched under the impetus of a new socialist president, François Mitterrand. Coveted by all the biggest international architectural firms, the competition is surprisingly won by an unknown: Johan Otto von Spreckelsen, an architecture teacher from Copenhagen. Until then, the fifty-year-old Danish had only built 4 buildings: his home and three small chapels.

Un Certain Regard
Since 1978, Un Certain Regard has been an official program at Cannes, highlighting innovative cinematic works. A special jury has awarded the Un Certain Regard prize for the section’s best film annually since 1998.
