Vinca Wiedemann, 54, is announced new Rector of the National Film School of Denmark. Appointed by the Danish Minister for Culture Marianne Jelved, Wiedemann will be succeeding Poul Nesgaard who has held the position since 1992.
Producer and script consultant Vinca Wiedemann trained as a film editor at the National Film School of Denmark and has worked as a teacher at the school from 1990 to 1995.
Wiedemann joined the Danish Film Institute in 1999 as Feature Film Commissioner. In 2003 she established the New Danish Screen talent programme at the DFI and became its first artistic director. Since 2007, Wiedemann has worked as an independent script consultant, producer and writer, and in 2010 she became part of the Zentropa staff as creative producer, signing films such as Susanne Bier's Oscar winner "In a Better World" and Pernille Fischer Christensen's "A Family" and "Someone You Love" (due in 2014). As story supervisor, Wiedemann is behind titles such as Thomas Vinterberg's "The Hunt" and Susanne Bier's "Love Is All You Need", and she has collaborated closely with Lars von Trier on his scripts for "Melancholia" and "Nymphomaniac".

Vinca Wiedemann takes over her new position on 1 March 2014.
About the National Film Shool of Denmark
The National Film School of Denmark is a state school, financially supported by the Danish Ministry of Cultural Affairs. The shool provides study programmes in film, TV, scriptwriting and animation directing. The number of students is around 100. All lines of study are four-year programmes, except for the two-year scriptwriting course. The school was founded in 1966 by Theodor Christensen and is situated on the small island of Frederiksholm in the harbour of Copenhagen.
