Mikkel Boe Følsgaard made a remarkable screen debut winning a Silver Bear for his role in Nikolaj Arcel's historical drama "A Royal Affair", where he plays alongside experienced and internationally renowned actors such as Mads Mikkelsen and Alicia Vikander.
As the first Dane to ever win this award, Følsgaard also convincingly played his way into 2013's lineup of Shooting Stars, according to the motivation from the international jury, who announced the ten young European acting talents Wednesday:
"Seeing him in 'A Royal Affair', one instantly knows that he can play any part. For his first role, he is simply breathtaking, taking care of every detail, showing incredible physical adeptness. We never see him creating emotions, they are just there. Like a miracle."
Mikkel Boe Følsgaard was cast as the deranged king in Nikolaj Arcel's Danish Oscar contender a year before graduating from the Danish National School of Performing Arts and has a series of stage performances to his credit.
Now Følsgaard is off to his second performance on the big screen, "The Keeper of Lost Causes" by Mikkel Nørgaard and Zentropa. The film is an adaptation of Danish bestselling crime novelist Jussi Adler-Olsen and is set to release in autumn 2013. For television, Følsgaard has signed on for a ten-part drama series, "The Legacy", to be directed by Pernilla August ("Beyond").
