Three Danish films are
selected for the official programme at the Cannes Film Festival 2005
(11-22 May). Lars von Trier's "Manderlay" will compete for the Palme D'Or,
while Dagur Kári's "Dark Horse" will screen in Un Certain Regard and
Robert Depuis' animated short "Exit" in Cinéfondation.

Besides "Manderlay" and
"Dark Horse", the following Danish titles will screen at the Cannes Film
Market: "Adam's Apples" by Anders Thomas Jensen and M & M Production,
"Flies on the Wall" by Åke Sandgren and Nordisk Film, "Chinaman" by Henrik
Ruben Genz and Fine & Mellow, and "The Leap" by Henning Carlsen and
Dagmar Film.
Producers on the
Move
For the sixth year
running, the European Film Promotion hosts Producers on the Move, an
initiative designed to introduce new European talent. Tine Grew Pfeiffer
is this year's Danish Producer on the Move. Tine Grew Pfeiffer graduated
from the National Film School of Denmark in 2001, and in 2003 she
established Alphaville Pictures Copenhagen with director Christoffer Boe.
This duo, currently working on "Allegro" and "Off Screen", teamed up
to make "Reconstruction", which won the Camera D'Or in 2003.
DFI
Reception
The Danish Film
Institute is represented, alongside other Nordic film institutes, at the
Scandinavian Stand which also hosts Trust Film Sales, Nordisk Film Sales,
AB Svensk Filmindustri and NonStop Sales.
On Friday 13 May at 9
p.m., the Danish Film Institute will host a reception for the Danish film
industry and international contacts.
Special Cannes
issue of FILM
In connection with the
Cannes Film Festival, the Danish Film Institute has published a special,
English-language issue of FILM. The magazine features interviews, news,
essays, as well as a catalogue of Danish feature films. FILM will be
distributed at the festival, and is also available for download (PDF) from
the DFI Cannes website at www.cannes.dfi.dk. The site also
features press material, DFI key contacts and more.
