Lizette Gram, festival manager at the Danish Film Institute (DFI),
reports that 2003 was an excellent year in regard to honours received by
Danish films at festivals worldwide.
Danish features were in focus at the biggest European events of 2003:
among them the international film festivals at Cannes, San Sebastian and
Karlovy Vary. Danish films also speckled the nomination programme for the
European Academy Awards. The reputation of Danish cinema was also
reinforced on the American continent, at The Hamptons in New York, Mar del
Plata in Buenos Aires and Montevideo Divercine in Uruguay.
Below is a selection of Danish titles that have won awards in 2003.
