Annette K. Olesen and Charlotte Sieling's "45 cm" won the Audience Award at this year's Clermont-Ferrand Short Film Festival (February 1-9), the largest of its kind and one of the most recognized.
"45 cm" took part in the Labo Competition, the festival's section for films exploring today's multiple technologies.
An experiment on the notion of space, the film borrows its title from a definition of any individual's personal territory – 45 centimeters. A man and a woman pass each other in a hotel corridor, and the film explores the thoughts and emotions during those few seconds, when they both realize that their personal territory will be invaded.
Both directors have important track records, Annette K. Olesen with award winning features such as "Minor Mishaps" (2002) and "In Your Hands" (2004), and Charlotte Sieling as episode director of several acclaimed TV series, among these the Emmy awarded "Unit One" (2000-2003).
"45 cm" is produced by Ib Tardini for Zentropa with support from the talent scheme New Danish Screen.
