Moscow selects four Danish films

Four Danish films are selected for the Moscow International Film Festival (21-30 June 2007): "Temporary Release", "AFR", "The Monastery" and "Pelle The Conqueror".

The drama-comedy "Temporary Release", directed by Erik Clausen, is chosen for the Main Competition and will screen at a gala ceremony on Sunday, June 24, in the presence of Clausen himself and lead actor Jesper Asholt. The film received a generous welcome from the cinema-going public in Denmark, bringing in some 310,000 admissions since its release in January this year.

"AFR", Morten Hartz Kaplers' first feature film and winner of the Tiger Award at Rotterdam International Film Festival, 2007, is chosen for the side programme, World Cinema.

"The Monastery", an awardwinning documentary film directed by Pernille Rose Grønkjær, will screen in the programme Free Thought – Documentary Section. "The Monastery" was recipient of the prestigious Joris Ivens Award at IDFA Amsterdam, and moreover honoured in Durham, Chicago, Warsaw and Sao Paulo.

As a tribute to the 20th anniversary of the Felix Awards (European Film Academy – EFA), Moscow has selected a number of films which were awarded at the first Felix ceremonies. Screening in this retrospective is "Pelle Erobereren" (1987), directed by Bille August. The film took home a Felix for Best Actor (Max von Sydow).
