"Go With Peace Jamil" wins in Rotterdam and Göteborg


Omar Shargawi's feature film debut scored hat trick at the two major festivals closing this weekend: a VPRO Tiger Award at Rotterdam, and the Church Prize and FIPRESCI Award at Göteborg.
"Strong directing and acting""Go With Peace Jamil" is an action-drama, a tale of ancient religious hatred set in a modern-day Arab immigrant community in Copenhagen, where young Jamil finds himself in the middle and is forced to find his own way.
"The strong directing and acting work" motivated the jury at Rotterdam International Film Festival to honour the film with the festival's main award, the VPRO Tiger Award. At Göteborg International Film Festival, the film received the Church of Sweden Film Prize and the international critics' FIPRESCI Award, the latter given for the film's "energy, vitality and originality and its fascinating handling of current social and political issues".
"Go With Peace Jamil" is produced by Meta Louise Foldager for Zentropa Entertainments.
