Danish short film receives Oscar nomination and Clermont-Ferrand award

Press release 12.02.2003
The short fiction film
"This Charming Man", which received Clermont-Ferrand's 'Prix du Public'
8th February, has been nominated for an Academy Award (Oscar) in the
category of 'Best Short Film - Live Action'. The awards ceremony will take
place under the auspices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts &
Sciences at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood on the 23rd March 2003.
"This Charming Man" was produced by Mie Andreasen of M&M
Productions for Short Fiction Film Denmark, and was directed by Martin
Strange-Hansen, who co-wrote the script with Flemming Christian Klem. This
trio of film professionals were recipients of the Nordic Film &
Television Fund's pitching award for their pitch for a feature
entitled "Human Patchwork". In 2002 the same trio mounted the Hollywood
podium for the first time to be presented with the Academy's Honorary
Foreign Film Student Award for their graduation film "Feeding
Desire", produced at the National Film School of Denmark.
This nominated film tells the story of Lars Hansen whose identity is
mistaken for a man called El Hassan. Instead of informing the authorities
about the error, Hansen sees an advantage in retaining his new identity.

Frequent visitors to Hollywood, Kim Magnusson and Tivi Magnusson of
M&M Productions have now accumulated four Oscar nominations, their
third nomination in 1999, for Anders Thomas Jensen's short fiction film
"Election Night", brought them an Academy Award for Best Short Film.
