"Strings" selected for Venice

Press release 30.07.2004
Anders Rønnow Klarlund's
latest feature film "Strings", a spectacular fantasy, is selected for
'Venice Days', a new programme under the umbrella of the 61st Venice
International Film Festival (1-11 September 2004).
"Strings" is a
mythological story about the son of a king, Hal Tara, who sets out on a
journey to avenge the death of his father. To his surprise he discovers
the truth about his own people, and where he least expects it, he
encounters romance.
The screenplay for
"Strings" is written by Naja Maria Aidt and Anders Rønnow Klarlund. Niels
Bald produced for Bald Film. "Strings" is scheduled for release in Danish
cinemas during winter 2004-2005. "Strings" has already been pre-sold to a
number of countries, including Canada, Germany, France, Portugal and the
Benelux countries.
With the appointment of
new director, Marco Müller (director for Locarno Film Festival 1991-2000),
changes have been made to programming at this year's Venice Film Festival.
There will only be one main competition. This year a new independent
section, modelled on Cannes' Directors' Fortnight and entitled 'Venice
Days', will be held from 2 to 11 September. The series will focus on films
from Greater Europe. A new film will be screened each day followed by
debates and events involving the film's director, Italian writers,
directors and producers and other cineastes.
