Into Eternity in good company

"Into Eternity" by Danish director Michael Madsen is nominated for the International Green Film Award 2010. The prize is awarded by the organization Cinema for Peace, which annually honors notable films, corporations and individuals that promote peace, tolerance, human rights and environmental protection.

The International Green Film Award 2010 is given in order to focus on climate and environmental problems. The prize will be awarded at a gala event at the Konzerthaus Berlin on 15 February in the presence of a number of international dignitaries as Catherine Deneuve, Rwanda's president Kagame, Sir Bob Geldof and Sir Christopher Lee.

Warning the future about nuclear waste

"Into Eternity" takes its audience deep into the Finnish underground, where the world's first permanent storage of nuclear waste is being constructed. It is essential that the storage is sealed for 100,000 years, as this is how long the waste remains hazardous. But how can we ensure that our descendants will never open the facility? How can we prevent them from thinking they have found the pyramids of our time, mystical burial grounds, hidden treasures? Which languages and signs will they understand, and if they understand, will they respect our instructions?

Lise Lense-Møller and Magic Hour Films produced Anders Østergaard's "Burma VJ – Reporting from a Closed Country", winner of last year's International Human Rights Award, and is coproducer of Swedish director Fredrik Gertten's documentary "Bananas!", which is also nominated for this year's International Green Film Award.
