Lars von Trier's feature film "Melancholia" is shooting in Trollhätten, Sweden and will wrap on 8th of September. Release is scheduled for May-June 2011.

The cast includes: Kirsten Dunst, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Kiefer Sutherland, Charlotte Rampling, John Hurt, Alexander Skarsgård, Stellan Skarsgård, Jesper Christensen, Udo Kier, Brady Corbet and Cameron Spurr.
The screenplay is written by Lars von Trier. Meta Louise Foldager and Louise Vesth are producing for Zentropa.
"Melancholia" is a Danish-Swedish-French-German-Italian coproduction with the following financial partners: Danish Film Institute, Film i Väst, DR, Eurimages, Nordisk Film & TV Fond, Swedish Film Institute, ARTE France, CNC, Canal+, BIM Italy, Filmstiftung NRW and SVT.
The film is presold to more than 20 countries, including Germany, Brazil, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Benelux, Scandinavia, Russia and most of the Eastern European countries.
About Trier
Born 1956, Denmark. Graduate of the National Film School of Denmark, 1983. His graduation film »Befrielsesbilleder«/»Images of Relief« (1982) evoked the attention of the critics, who declared there was nothing comparable in Danish cinema since Dreyer. In a few years Von Trier became an internationally acclaimed auteur director of feature films. Trier is also innovator and partner of Zentropa, a multi-faceted and visionary Danish production company, and cofounder of Dogme95, a concept which has inspired filmmakers worldwide.
Von Trier's major films fall into three trilogies: E-Trilogy ("Element of Crime", "Epidemic", "Europa"), the Goldlocks-Trilogy ("Breaking the Waves", "The Idiots", and "Dancer in the Dark"), and his US-Duo ("Dogville" and "Manderlay").
Von Trier received the Jean d'Arcy Award in France for his DR TV production of "Medea" (1988). And his highly popular TV film in the 1990's, "Riget"/"The Kingdom-series" became a worldwide success.
Von Trier's latest major film "Antichrist" (2009), selected for the Cannes Film Festival competition, marks the director's eighth film to run for the Palme d'Or. Von Trier, a Cannes laureate, has received top awards at this festival for four titles: "Forbrydelses Element"/"The Element of Crime" (1984), "Europa" (1991), "Breaking the Waves" (1996), and "Dancer in the Dark" (2000), which received the prestigious Palme d'Or.
