"Burma VJ" is about a group of Burmese video journalists who risked their lives to bring photos to the world of the monks' uprising in Burma. The film is produced by Lise Lense-Møller for Magic Hour Films.
"Burma VJ" has received more than 30 awards, including IDFA's Joris Ivens and Movies That Matter Awards, two awards at CPH: DOX, a prize at the Sundance Film Festival, the International Human Rights Award at the Berlin Film Festival, and most recently the Grierson Best Cinema Documentary Award at the British Documentary Awards.
This year, Anders Østergaard is a member of the IDFA Competition for Mid-Length Documentary jury, and "Burma VJ" will be screened in the Reflecting Images: Panorama section.
The Academy Awards ceremony with the Oscar presentation will take place on 7 March 2010 and will be broadcast to more than 200 countries worldwide. The final Oscar nominations will be announced 2 February.

The Danish documentary director Anders Østergaard and his film "Burma VJ — Reporting from a Closed Country" has been shortlisted by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for an Oscar.
