The Danish Film Institute's Archive & Cinematheque in Copenhagen has a dual focus: to provide good storage conditions for the Danish film heritage and make it readily accessible to the public.
The Head of Archive & Cinematheque is responsible for the national Film Archive's strategy for collection, preservation and conservation, for the Library and the Stills & Poster Archive, and for overseeing the Cinemateque's programme committee that is in charge of the repertoire at the Filmhouse's three cinemas.
Furthermore, the Head of Archive & Cinematheque is responsible for research activities, for publishing classic films and disseminating knowledge via the National Filmography www.nationalfilmografien.dk and the newly opened website on Carl Theodor Dreyer www.carlthdreyer.dk.
The future is digital
Over the past few years the conditions for film storage at the Danish Film Institute have been improved and modernised, one of the new initiatives being a state-of-the-art storage facility for nitrate films.
The new Head of Archive & Cinematheque will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategy for digital preservation and dissemination over the coming years. The digital formats constitute a great challenge to the field of film preservation – as well as new opportunities for making the national film heritage accessible to all audiences.
Qualifications

• Film history and research
• Film preservation and conservation
• Digitisation
• Public exhibition
• Management and communication
The final job description will reflect the postholder's specific qualifications.
The Head of Archive & Cinematheque leads three Head of Units and approximately 29 employees and is member of the DFI Management.
