"For me it's the feminist angle that I've found most important in the movie. To expose the highly unjust structures that women – or people of low status – are subjected to in the world we live in today. And try to show that it doesn't have to be like that ... It pays to stand up to it," says 'Breeder's screenwriter Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen.
"One horror fim cliché is that you kill off a horny blonde in the 1st scene. What we do is make her the main character who wins and fights her way through the story," director Jens Dahl adds about one of the strong women in the film, the lead character Mia, who discovers the shocking truth behind a health products company.

A rarity in Danish cinema, the genre-conscious horror film 'Breeder' is premiering locally on 31 October, after having screened at Sitges Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia and UK's FrightFest.
The film will be continuing its journey on the genre film festival curcuit over the next months. Sales agent LevelK report that it has sold to 50 territories, including the UK, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, Benelux, South Korea and Russia.
Sara Hjort Ditlevsen in the lead as Mia is accompanied by actors Anders Heinrichsen, Signe Egholm Olsen and Morten Holst.
'Breeder' is produced by Amalie Lyngbo Quist and Maria Møller Christoffersen for Beo Starling with support from the Danish Film Institute.
