Denmark's Snowglobe production company appears prominently in this year's Cannes line-up as co-producers on two Norwegian feature films in the Official Selection. Danish film professionals occupy key functions on both films.
'The Worst Person in the World' by Joachim Trier is selected for the Competition. In addition, the film's co-writer, Eskil Vogt, participates as director with 'The Innocents' in Un Certain Regard.
Both films have been granted support through the Danish Film Institute's Minor Co-production Scheme, funding Danish creatives in foreign co-productions.
Snowglobe also appears in the line-up for Directors' Fortnight as co-producers of Italy's 'A Chiara' by Jonas Carpignano.
The Worst Person in the World in Competition
Behind Joachim Trier's Norwegian feature film 'The Worst Person in the World' is a proven Danish-Norwegian collaboration.
Snowglobe, with producers Mikkel Jersin, Katrin Pors and Eva Jakobsen at the helm, partnered with Norway's Thomas Robsahm on Trier's latest film, 'Thelma' (2017). Jersin, for Nimbus Film, was also a co-producer on Robsahm and Trier's previous film, 'Louder Than Bombs' (2015), selected for Cannes Competition.
'The Worst Person in the World' is a modern dramedy about the quest for love and meaning in contemporary Oslo. The film chronicles four years in the life of Julie, a young woman who navigates the troubled waters of her love life and struggles to find her career path, leading her to take a realistic look at who she really is.
Denmark's Olivier Bugge Coutté is behind the editing, thus continuing his longstanding collaboration with Joachim Trier. More Danish key players off-screen include cinematographer Kasper Tuxen, VFX supervisor Esben Syberg, sound recordist Kasper Janus Rasmussen and storyboard artist Sune Elskær.
'The Worst Person in the World' is the final part of Trier's Oslo trilogy, after 'Reprise' (2006) and 'Oslo, 31 August' (2011), the latter world premiering in Cannes.

The Innocents in Un Certain Regard
Snowglobe's second co-production at this year's Cannes Festival, 'The Innocents', is directed by Joachim Trier's regular co-writing partner, Eskil Vogt.
'The Innocents', with a script by Vogt, is a supernatural thriller about a group of children revealing their dark and mysterious powers when the adults aren’t looking. However, playtime soon takes a dangerous turn.
Creatives from the Danish film industry include cinematographer Sturla Brandth Grøvlen, production designer Simone Grau Roney, gaffer Aslak Lytthans, VFX supervisor Esben Syberg and storyboard artist Sune Elskær.
Eskil Vogt's feature film debut, 'Blind' (2014), received international recognition with awards in Berlin and Sundance, among others.
Looking ahead, Snowglobe is collaborating with Eskil Vogt on their upcoming Danish feature film 'Copenhagen Does Not Exist', directed by Martin Skovbjerg Jensen based on Vogt's script.

A Chiara in Director's Fortnight
Finally, Snowglobe is part of the co-producing team behind Italian filmmaker Jonas Carpignano's third feature, 'A Chiara', produced by Italy's Stayblack.
Written by the director himself, the story revolves around 15-year-old Chiara who is utterly powerless as she watches her father suddenly leave their small town in Calabria. The young girl is determined to understand why he left, like so many before him.
