Filmcentralen features more than 600 teaching materials for primary, secondary and high school. They vary quite a lot in scope, length and form – but they all have a film-specific approach focusing on themes, film form and style.

The educational resources include a teacher's guide with relevant information and inspiration, and student assignments focusing on analytical and creative elements. Film analysis is a powerful method to improve decoding and analytical skills. The resources’ film-specific approach helps students to become aware that a film’s themes, form and style all contribute to shaping its content.

Film analysis also motivates a variety of collaborative tasks, from working in pairs to teamwork and discussions in class. A critical approach to film promotes conversation, which is essential for learning. Furthermore film discussions can stimulate language learning and communication skills.

Filmcentralen also includes a Film Lexicon providing definitions of key film terms – in words, pictures and film clips. All study materials link directly to the Film Lexicon to explain filmic terms and concepts.
