Acts of Love will celebrate world premiere in Rotterdam

FESTIVAL. Jeppe Rønde’s drama 'Acts of Love' is selected for the Harbour strand at the Rotterdam International Film Festival.

Jeppe Rønde’s ‘Acts of Love’ will screen in the Harbour section at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), one of Northern Europe’s largest festivals, from January 30 to February 9, 2025. Reflecting Rotterdam’s identity as a port city, the Harbour section provides a haven for a diverse range of contemporary cinema.

‘Acts of Love’ explores forbidden love, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Jeppe Rønde, examining the consequences of love defying societal norms.

Hanna lives in a New Age Christian community in rural Denmark and longs to have a child. But her sheltered life starts to unravel as the unexpected arrival of her younger brother Jacob stirs up long-buried memories of their troubled past. Will his arrival jeopardize Hanna’s dream of motherhood? And will the members of the community be able to live up to their own rules and beliefs, when they are confronted with the question: who gets to decide over love?

'Acts of Love' is directed and written by Jeppe Rønde and co-written by Rasmus Birch. Rønde’s feature debut, ‘Bridgend' (2015) also premiered at Rotterdam.

The cast features Cecilie Lassen, Jonas Holst Schmidt, Ann Eleonora Jørgensen, Miilu Lindberg Boassen, Connie Kristoffersen, and Henrik Birch, among others.

‘Acts of Love’ is produced by Julie Walenciak and Siri Bøge Dynesen for Paloma Productions, with support from the Danish Film Institute and Den Vestdanske Filmpulje. FilmBazar will handle the domestic release, while TrustNordisk oversees international sales.
