Me and my dad, we often take our boat out and head over to the Ilperveld. Looking for bones...The Ilperveld is this swampy place with lots of ditches.
I use a rope to jump from the boat onto land. Sometimes my feet sink in pretty deep. When they dredge the ditches, lots of old bones come out. We check all the banks and we always find lots of them. They’re like a hundred year old cow bones...They used to just throw cows into a ditch, after they’d died. Some of the bones are as long as my arm. Our back yard is pretty big and we have a sandbox, and we put all the bones on the sand. It’s really cool to reconstruct a whole skeleton from an old cow.
So, I guess you could say we’re real bone collectors.
