In the Bosnian city, Zenica, cancer and childhood diabetes have become common. The citizens look with suspicion towards a giant steel and coking plant which occupies a quarter of the city and is the largest employer in the area. Through the organisation Eko Forum they push for change and measurements to determine whether or not their suspicion is warranted. But like a Greek tragedy, the conflict of interests is bigger than everyone involved. The citizens need food on the table, the politicians need to deliver jobs and foreign investments to get re-elected, while EU’s bank, EBRD provide loans for a new power plant, running on coking plant emissions, in parallel with new bicycle lanes to brand Zenica a Green City.
