Dag og nat (Oversigt)

The Shift is a drama series depicting the daily life on a Danish maternity ward. The ward suffers under a heavy work load, challenging the employees to maintain a high medical and interpersonal standard. But the ward also offers compassion, courage, empathy and endurance. On the white hospital halls, doctors, nurses and midwives are fighting like soldiers in a never-ending battle to attend the mothers and their newborns. Professional and private conflicts appear, when the strengths and weaknesses of the human spirit is laid bare. “Childbirth is like a reverse traffic accident”, midwife Ella tells a student. “There’s blood and screaming, but in the end you’ve added one more life.”
