In 2012, the world’s only all-diabetes professional cycling team was formed to show what’s possible with type1 diabetes. On top of racing against the best cyclists in the world, the riders need to manage daily injections of insulin to control blood glucose levels. Losing control can lead to severe complications and death. Ride for your L1fe follows the team behind the scenes throughout the entire 2021 season, as these diabetes pioneers fight for results, race for a spot on the podium and even for normality. Living with type1 diabetes means the team competes on the road and with their disease. Are ambitions and pioneer work enough to survive in professional cycling? Or will the race within the race come out on top? With full access to riders, mechanics, management, nutritionists and doctors, a film crew followed the team through battles, bruises and broken dreams in a film about dealing with the prejudices and the uncertainty of living with a chronic condition.
