Only on Earth takes us on a sensory-rich and visually spectacular journey into Southern Galicia, one of Europe’s most vulnerable wildfire zones. During the hottest summer ever measured, humans and animals alike are struggling to cope as inextinguishable fires draw closer. Wild horses have roamed the Galician mountains for centuries, surrounded by an ancient cowboy culture. The wild horses’ special ability to curb the flammable undergrowth is indispensable when it comes to fire prevention, but their numbers are dwindling in today’s clash between human progress and nature. In the film we meet a young aspiring cowboy, an experienced fire analyst, an equine vet, and a family of farmers doubling as firefighters. Only on Earth is an immersive reflection on the current state of the natural world and human-animal relations.
