After a long life on the farm, Alfred and Erna have sold their estate, and have moved to a house in a country town. It's the morning of the second day of Christmas and, in keeping with tradition, the children and the grandchildren are expected for the annual Christmas lunch. This will be their first visit to new house. Erna is struggling to uphold her routine. But an incipient dementia reduces her perspective and makes life difficult for her. When the preparations for the family's lunch collapse around Erna, Alfred has just about had enough. But he soon discovers that there is still more to come.
