The danish gang war has lasted three years. 9 people are dead, more than 50 have been wounded and 280 related criminals are currently imprisoned. Still both environments attracts more new members than ever before. But why do young men become gang members? How are they socialized into wanting to die for their community? What social functions does gangs fill out and how can an identity be so strong that it is not worth living without?
