Dancer is a dynamic portrait of the world-renowned Danish ballet dancer, Nikolaj Hübbe. The film follows the course of this ambitious dancer during three dramatic months at the New York City Ballet, where he worked with Peter Martins. Hübbe's friend and ballet colleague, Ulrik Wivel, making his debut here as a director, has followed Nikolaj Hübbe at close range: in confidential discussions, during the gruelling work in the training studio and on stage. Nikolaj Hübbe finds himself standing at a decisive turning point in his own life. He has applied for the job of ballet master at the Royal Danish Ballet. Will he land the job? If not, what will he decide to do?
