Kira and Mads, in their thirties, have two children and enjoy a good life, until after Kira's manic disorder and sojourn in a psychiatric ward. All Kira now yearns for is to nourish a profound desire to live up to expectations and comply with the demands placed on her as a mother and wife. She desperately wants to succeed, but fails, breaking the rules of conduct and creating scandals. Her relationship with her husband and kids suffers, due to her escapades and her lack of self-control. When she discovers Mads had an affair during her hospitalization, she intensifies her efforts to regain her family, but comes to realize that she cannot live the life of the wife and mother she used to be.
