An epic panorama of life in Denmark from the mid-1950s to the 1970s, tracking the affluent, yet barely functional Gregersen family. The Gregersens are the charming, but brutal patriarch Mogens, his lonely, neurotic wife Tilde, and their five children ranging from ages 12 to 21. The passing years uncover their turbulent emotional lives and codependencies and witness their social set's ice-cold demands for happiness and success.
