A Danish 16 year old girl travels to Indonesia. Innocently she involves herself wholeheartedly in the culture. The overpowering poverty and differences in the social structures make a strong impression on her. To identify herself with this foreign culture, she shortly learns to master the language. She learns traditional dances, and participates in Islamic rituals.
