We all have a family but some of us cannot live at home.
Michael Noer's documentary is a story about people living at the farm Slettenbjerggård in Denmark. The film is about the retired professor of anatomy Finn Bojesen-Møller and his wife Merete and her persistent and loving work with the young foster children. Especially David and Dan fell let down by the surroundings and they have difficulties believing in love.
The farm Slettenbjergård is Merete's project and it is her believe that the young people need to live at a home that is similar to a real family. Finn and Merete has a secret. They have themselves been facing the dilemma between love and neglect when they send their handicapped son away from home when he was a child.
We all have a family, we all need love and we all try to find the earth beneath our feet.
