Per Kirkeby - Vinterbillede

Modern Art confuses and intriques us - especially contemporary abstract painting. The internationally renowned artist, Per Kirkeby, and Jesper Jargil shared a desire to reveal the process of artistic creation. Together they have created a film which charts the making of a large oil painting from the virgin canvas to its hanging at a museum of modern art. Through the eye of the High Definition camera, the film follows Kirkeby during the many hours in his studio: observing, sleeping, musing, chatting to his family... and painting. Kirkeby's own words and thoughts are the narration of the film and he is accompanied by the music that aids his inspiration.
Per Kirkeby now lives and works in Copenhagen, on the small island of Laeso, in Frankfurt am Main and Italy.
