Ashley, an insurance salesman working for a wobbly company, receives a visit from Volmer Tafdrup, an unpleasant businessman, who is taking out a life insurance policy worth DKK 35 million. Ashley, who has few social skills, is paranoid, and has a poor memory, is assisted by Judith, his ever loyal secretary, who also has major psychiatric problems including a huge black hole in her heart which she is always talking about. Volmer Tafdrup chokes on a plum and dies just after he has signed, and Ashley's company faces a DKK 35 million pay-out. Panic spreads. Bankruptcy, unemployment, and a rapid descent down society's ladder are imminent, and the ever loyal Judith decides to rescue them all from the abyss.
