Olivia was 15 years old when she had Renato. Today, 12 years on, she is dead. Renato lives on the streets of Rio de Janeiro with his grandmother and deaf-mute uncle, whom he helps sell flowers in the streets. Renato has never been to school because like millions of other children all over the world, his papers aren't in order. He has never had a birth certificate, and so he does not have the fundamental human rights: access to education, medical care, and a roof over his head. This film is about his struggle to be recognised as a world citizen. It is aimed at older children.
