A heart-rending story about Rune, who lives alone with his mother after his father's death. Rune tries to fill the empty space at home and looks after all the practical matters in order to keep things going. The local authorities regard the family as dysfunctional and consider a forced removal of Rune from his home. He, on the other hand, is desperately trying to convince himself and his environment that everything is in perfect order.
