We see the fighting round the royal palace of Amalienborg during the occupation. Although both the Danish forces and the police had been dissolved by the Germans, about 100 policemen stubbornly stayed on in the castle, guarding the king. The film depicts daily life behind the barricades and the liberation on May 5th, 1945. It ends with shots on the 10th of June, when the Royal Guards took over from the police.
