Life as an apprentice in the American cartoon industry must have been a mixed pleasure for Danish cartoonist Jørgen Klubien. In this film he returns in an animated state as the protagonist in his own version of Pinocchio, the naïve wooden boy who falls into the hands of ruthless Mr. Stromboli. Klubien's autobiographical, satirical cartoon is charming and quirky even though it is about the huge abyss that separates the Danish boy's dream from the harsh reality of the dream factory assembly line.
