»Public Secret« is an oratorio for two untrained male orators, a soprano, a voice quartet and electronic accompaniment. Through highlighting public secrets, and personal secrets that become public, of its two main characters, this production reflects on the general themes of vanity, love and death. The two protagonists represent two very different attitudes towards life, which result in quite different perceptions of the world, and different interpretations of personal experience.
Through its non-traditional approach and method, this production crosses the boundaries of existing genres, such as documentary, fiction, video art and musical oratorio. »Public Secret« transforms partly documentary and partly staged material, into one composition: a Video Oratorio.
