Rendez-vous is a continuation of an earlier film portrait made by Ole Roos
in 1964 about the great French actor Michel Simon. Roos and Simon had
agreed to meet ten years later to continue the project, but unfortunately
Michel Simon died before then. The film is a poetical and personal collage
of memories in which Ole Roos, in remembrance of things past, returns to
Paris to the actor's empty residence in order to honour his memory. These
pictures are mixed with other memories: we hear the misanthrope Simon talk
about his chequered career, we see selected clips from his films and we
meet him in the conservatory of his old home, which is full of erotic art,
numerous pets and forbidden pornographic films.
